David Swope, BA
STUDENT SUCCESS COACH
While studying philosophy at Indiana University, David became heavily involved with the university's outdoor community and witnessed the transformative powers of experiential outdoor education firsthand. With a BA in Philosophy, a thirst for wonder, and a passion to share that wonder with anyone who would listen, David packed up and headed west.
David’s professional experience includes work as a challenge course facilitator, wilderness therapy instructor, and as an instructor and manager for NOLS. Whether it be coaching students through clouds of mosquitoes north of the arctic circle, or encouraging students to hold their point of sail while braving the wind and waves along the coast of Baja, David is at his best when he is encouraging people to move forward in the face of adversity and uncertainty. David is excited to bring his experience coaching in wild places to the students working through life's challenges at College Excel.
When he is not at work, David likes to spend time with his wife hiking, sailing, or getting caught up on projects around the house.
