Margaret, 25-year-old, San Francisco
Before I came to College Excel, I had spent two years at Loyola Marymount College and was struggling emotionally and academically. I felt so overwhelmed with the whole college experience, and had little direction or focus. College Excel was presented to me as an opportunity to understand what my learning style is and to better succeed in college. It has been so much more than that!
I have benefited from the coaching immensely, and feel as though I have been given a fresh start on life. I have learned how to love myself through both the hard times and good times. I really needed the coaching I received to help me believe in myself and learn how to overcome my limiting beliefs. And now that I know who I am, I feel as though I can learn so much more. I also needed the ongoing academic support, time management training, study skills and accountability to keep on track with school and goals.
The goals I have set for myself are finally being accomplished, and I feel great. Gaining confidence has also helped me become more skilled in my overall college experience. I'm getting A's in courses that used to be difficult for me. I was just accepted to Oregon State University, and feel awesome about my academic future. I am interested in majoring in International Relations and pursuing my masters and possibly my doctorate.
I didn't have faith in myself or my academic ability before I came to College Excel, but I definitely know now that I am a very competent student and a very capable woman who will be as successful as I choose to be. College Excel is the perfect place for a student who is ready and willing to accept support and guidance to help further their academic future and personal goals.
