Study abroad & service learning

At College Excel, study abroad and service learning help build strong individuals with a global perspective who can step outside themselves to create a better world.

Study abroad

Students who study abroad are better prepared for today's globalized economy. By experiencing life from the perspective of another culture, they gain an understanding of humanity.

While abroad, students also develop powerful relationships with each other and learn to take leadership roles. The confidence gained from "making it" in another part of the world strengthens their sense of self.

Summer 2006 found College Excel students studying about, and in, Italy. Future study abroad opportunities are being explored for the summer of 2008.

Service learning

Service learning creates strong adults, strong adults form healthier communities, and healthier communities make a better world. Service learning is an opportunity for students to grow while giving back to their local and global community through volunteer work.

In an increasingly diverse society, it is important to reach out to others to create cohesion instead of division. Studies show that students involved in service learning perform better academically and experience higher levels of self-esteem.

Several service learning experiences are planned for the winter break, spring break and summer term.
