College Excel supports parents, too

Many parents need their own support system as their child becomes an autonomous young adult. A little guidance and coaching for parents can help young adults effectively separate and take full ownership of their choices.

College Excel offers two easy and effective programs for parents who want direct, honest, and non-judgmental support:

IMPORTANT NOTE -- College Excel does not provide student updates to parents for four very specific reasons:

1. It is against the law for us to release any information when your son or daughter is 18 years or over, without their written consent.
2. It is difficult for us to establish a trusting relationship with your son or daughter if they think we are in regular contact with you and talking about them.
3. It can create what we call "unhealthy triangulation," where we become the conduit for the young adult and their parents to indirectly relate their feelings about each other.
4. We want to teach you and your son or daughter how to speak directly and relate your feelings, wants and    needs.   If you request, and your young adult agrees, we will facilitate a conference call where your son or daughter updates you, but we are present and coaching your family through the call.
