Something wild: Living it up Central Oregon style
Few places offer as many world-class outdoor opportunities as Central Oregon. Our program features adventures for the weekends and on school breaks. And once each term, we offer an adventure trip led by professional guides, and designed to teach problem solving and leadership skills, while challenging students to overcome their limiting beliefs. Adventures include:
- Rock Climbing at Smith Rock - day trips to the world-famous sport-climbing destination each term
- Whitewater Rafting - summer trips on the Deschutes, Rogue, and McKenzie rivers
- Mountaineering the Cascades - scale South Sister and Broken Top, summer only
- Backpacking - summer trails are waiting for you
- Mountain Biking - summer and fall day trips on nationally recognized bike trails
- GPS Eco-Tours - a treasure hunt using GPS and map and compass skills, scheduled year-round
- Pole, Pedal, Paddle Teams - build a team and begin training in March for Bend's popular May race that combines downhill skiing, Nordic skiing, cycling, running and paddling
- Kayaking the Puget Sound - see orcas and other wildlife on Washington's ocean waters, summer only
- Caving - explore lava tubes and caves, summer and fall only
- Backcountry Skiing/Boarding - take a snow cat to the top of Diamond peak and carve fresh tracks on the way back down, winter and spring only
