Opportunities to earn and learn: Jobs

About 40% of our students hold part-time jobs. These students have completed at least one successful college term and are managing their responsibilities. Students ready to incorporate a job into their schedule can participate in our Job Skills course and receive independent support. The course teaches students how to find jobs, fill out applications, write an effective resume, conduct themselves in an interview, and arrange a smart schedule. Those needing additional support may attend our daily Morning Coffee & Breakfast meeting in the Community House.

Some of our students' favorite jobs have included:

• being baristas at Starbucks
• life-guarding at Sunriver Resort
• teaching fitness to preschoolers at Bend's athletic club
• waiting tables at the acclaimed Merenda's restaurant
• working at the trendy clothing shop Local Joe's
• remodeling houses for resale with Johnny, a talented local builder
• painting houses with a local contractor
